What you will be able to do

  • Distinguish between baseline, issue based and continuous risk assessment and select the right one for each situation.
  • Break any task into steps and identify the hazards hiding in each step.
  • Score risk using likelihood and consequence matrices without inflating or deflating the result.
  • Apply the hierarchy of controls so that elimination and engineering solutions are considered before personal protective equipment.
  • Facilitate a risk assessment session with operators who know the job better than you do.
  • Review and update assessments after incidents, plant changes and new equipment introductions.
