Pipeline Laying and Trenchless Construction for Bulk Services

Water, sewer and gas pipelines carry essential services under busy African towns and long rural corridors, where trench collapses and joint failures are both dangerous and costly. This course covers open trench pipe laying alongside trenchless methods such as pipe jacking and horizontal directional drilling. It emphasises bedding, jointing, testing and the excavation safety that protects crews.

What you will be able to do

  • Plan pipeline routes, levels and crossings from drawings.
  • Supervise trench excavation, shoring and dewatering safely.
  • Control bedding, laying and jointing of pipe materials.
  • Apply trenchless methods where open cut is not viable.
  • Conduct pressure and leakage testing before backfill.
  • Manage reinstatement and as built recording of pipelines.
