What you will be able to do

  • Apply a complete isolation sequence covering identification, switching, locking, testing for dead and earthing where required.
  • Write and issue permits to work and safe work procedures that match the plant actually in front of the team.
  • Recognise arc flash and shock risk in switchgear, motor control centres and distribution boards.
  • Manage group isolation on multi trade shutdowns where several teams lock onto the same equipment.
  • Handle the hazards created by load shedding, generator changeover and backfeed from standby sources.
  • Investigate a near miss involving stored energy and close out the control gaps it exposes.
